A Cacophony of Joy!

2012-12-17 Black Bellied Whistling Ducks fall colors close up

This morning was absolutely beautiful. The quacks and calls of the local Black Bellied Whistling ducks were a discordant melody as Molly and I worked in the garden.

2011-4-10 Egyptian Geese 3

The honks of our two Egyptian Geese completed the Cacophony of Joy! The handsome couple is nesting and I haven’t been able to get a good shot of them recently. So I included this picture taken last year so you can see what striking birds they are.

When I came in from the garden I emptied the kitchen trash. Molly decided she likes dumpster diving! Our trash can is made for the plastic bags you get at the grocery store. The handles of the bags fit over the uprights at the ends of the can. We got this years ago at the CONTAINER STORE in San Diego. I don’t know if they still carry this exact one but you can probably go to ContainerStore.com and find something similar.

Sissie decided to join in the fun. Our two shelter kitties happily played peek-a-boo for quite a while.

2012-12-18 Christmas tree 1

And……..we got our Christmas tree up. Last year we had a real one. Molly loves to climb trees and our Christmas tree was no exception. The only problem was she would go up and the tree would come down. Hopefully she won’t climb this one on Jack’s easel! Thought you would enjoy seeing what is happening on Senkarik Pond while I’m working on sketches for another commission. Hope to be painting on it soon. Have a wonderful evening and remember, you can enlarge any of the pictures by clicking on the image. Hugs, Mikki Senkarik

Thank you for a wonderful year of joy and inspiration. Your blog just makes my day. Decades from now, when we meet in heaven, I will tell you what a tremendous impact your blogs have had on my life. And thanks to Jack for such insightful articles. May God bless you both this coming year.

Mikki, the reflections in your pond are really wonderful – someone should use them in a painting! We have Canadian Geese in the area around Diamond Springs, CA. There is a pair that comes to feed in the meadow but haven’t seen them yet-they are really beautiful. Merry Christmas to you and Jack. Pen Slade

Hi, Would you please tell me where you bought the little garbage pail that holds the plastic shopping bags? That is the exact one I’m looking for. I don’t like the others I’ve come across. Thank you! Barbara

      Hi Barbara,
We got that years ago (1998) at the Container Store in San Diego. I love it also. I went to Containerstore.com and looked but unfortunately couldn’t find it. Here is their phone number: 1-888-CONTAIN Maybe you can explain to them what you’re looking for and they can help you find one. Wish I had better news for you. Thank you for following my blog. Mikki
