Combining Photos

Stuart at Zion CanyonStuart Protrait Image 3Sidney really likes the picture of Stuart on the left that was taken a few years ago. The only problem is the file size is so small I can’t see any details. Also Stuart now has long hair as you can see on the right, Sidney prefers to have the portrait painted with short hair like in the earlier photo. The picture on the right will give me reference for the sunny beach light.

Kaye took lots of pictures over Christmas. We went through them and found one where Stuart is in a similar position to the photo at the top left. So I’m combining elements from all three for this portrait. Stuart is blocked in, the canvas is completely covered and now it’s time to begin working on getting his likeness. The easiest way for me to do this is to place the portrait next to the photo on the computer. This way I can compare the two and make adjustments.

The position photo of Stuart was taken indoors, the portrait is on the sunny beach. So I’m having to make up the lighting.

Stuart is really close to being finished. I will have a few slight adjustments here and there but I’m going to wait a few days so I can come back with a fresh eye. In the meantime I’ll start on Helen. Come back tomorrow and follow along. Hugs, Mikki Senkarik
