Howard and Edye, the owners of the Bucks County Gallery sent this picture of the Delaware Canal. Jack and I thought it would be really nice with a few spring flowers added.

SD1913 A Kiss of Spring Step 1

What heralds spring in this part of the county better than Azaleas and Daff0dils? A quick thumbnail sketch is made to solidify my thoughts. I’ve taken artistic license and rearranged the elements in the photo just a bit.

My basic plan is drawn up on the canvas with a brush dipped in a thin mix of equal parts of Ultramarine Blue + Alizarin Crimson + Liquin. A few adjustments are made as I work. I’ve decided to move the bridge a little closer to the foreground.
