Fruit Stands

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADon’t you just love little roadside markets that feature local produce? Sopyn’s Fruit Stand on the way to Taos is a favorite of ours. I thought it would be fun to do a bit different painting for the Wildernightingale Gallery in Taos. So here goes……

SD2013 step 1

I’m combining the two photos at the top of the page. I really like the Apples sign in the picture on the left and will use the image on the right for the layout. The main elements are sketched on the canvas with a wash of equal parts of Alizarin Crimson + Ultramarine Blue. Liquin is added to make the mix thin enough to draw with.

SD2013 step 2

Next the chili ristras are washed in with Alizarin Crimson + Liquin.

SD2013 step 3

Flowers will fill the lower right corner. We’re all sketched up and ready to begin painting. Hope you’ll come back and follow along. Hugs, Mikki Senkarik
