Painting Saint Francis

SG3115 Cascade of Silver Lace step 17

Several of you have asked about my Annual Collector Event in Santa Fe. Jack and I will be at the Santa Fe Art Collector Gallery at 217 Galisteo Street in this unique town on September 4th and 5th. The official Collector Event is on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm. We have A LOT OF FUN with drawings for door prizes, tons of laughter and HUGS all around. Plus we’ll have a special auction; since this is my 25th year showing art in Santa Fe we are starting the auction at 25 cents! The collector event is RSVP, for more information just call the Gallery at 505.988.5545. Hope you can come, the more the merrier!

Now…..back to work. I’ve got to get some paintings done for the big event. I love dark blue ceramic tile. I use mixes of Ultramarine Blue + a touch of MUD (Ultramarine Blue + Alizarin Crimson) + White for the darks. Several shades of Ultramarine Blue + White are made for the mid and light values.

The grout lines are made with some of the shadow colors left over from the Silver Lace Vine.

Some of that same paint is used for the water tumbling from the fountain in the foreground. You can see how the dark wall in the background accentuates the splashing water. The piece wouldn’t have been nearly as dramatic with the white sculpture of St. Francis in that spot.

And….speaking of St. Francis, here you go! This VIDEO shows the initial block in.

We have a bonus VIDEO today, adding the details to the sculpture.

We’ve got all of the hardscaping finished. Bring your gardening gloves for our next session, we’ll be planting! Please remember, you can see any of the images larger by clicking on the picture. HUGS,
