East Meets Southwest

This is a fun collaboration. I had previously painted this piece for my collector to give as a gift to her sister, who loved it. But Jeana also liked it! So she asked me to paint another version to hang in her own home.

We decided to flip the painting, along with adding several different elements. I’m replacing the pagoda with a Bonsai Tree and waterfall. I’ve also moved the “lucky cat” to the other side of the bench.

Bluffs of New Mexico loom in the distance, the East meets the Southwest!

The pink blossoms of the Cherry Tree are washed in with a mixture of Permanent Rose + Liquin.

So, our Oriental piece with a Southwestern twist is sketched up and ready to begin painting. I’ll start in our next session, hope you’ll come follow along. If you would like to receive an email every time I publish a new post please feel free to subscribe to my blog.
