VIDEO DEMONSTRATION: Painting the wonderfully fragrant Spanish Jasmine with Oils. To learn more about the Double Primary Color Mixing System I use CLICK HERE!
Terra Cotta containers, residing on the window sill, are blocked in with combinations of MUD (2 parts Ultramarine Blue + 1 part Alizarin Crimson) + Cadmium Red Light + Cadmium Orange + White. The edge of the curved pot is lined with Ultramarine Blue + White, to give the appearance of roundness. You may click on this, or any of the other images to see them larger.
The entire surface of the floor is painted with the mixes used for the tiles on the roof. My main purpose in this step is to establish the shadows and the light streaming across the courtyard floor from the left.
Perspective lines, indicating the crevices between the tiles, are drawn into the wet paint of the floor with a fine liner brush dipped in a thin oil mix of MUD + Liquin Original.
The spicy Chili Peppers, hanging in a ristra by the door, are painted with mixes of Cadmium Red Deep + Magenta, Cadmium Red Deep and Cadmium Red Deep + White.
The flowers of the Geraniums are first painted with mixes of Permanent Rose + White (1). The leaves are then added with several shades of Pthalo Blue + Lemon Yellow + White (2).
Because the Salvia blossoms extend above the leaves, I go ahead and paint the foliage first. Combinations of Pthalo Blue + Cadmium Orange + White are used.
The tall, slender spires of flowers are added with Dioxazine Purple + White and Dioxazine Purple + Ultramarine Blue + White.
Cheerful Sunflowers nestle along the wall below the Chili Ristra, adding to the jumble of colorful blossoms providing a “FRAGRANT GREETING” to all who visit this delightful courtyard. I appreciate you following along today. With Warm Hugs,
