THIRTY-ONE!

June 23, 2010

Yep, that’s right. THIRTY-ONE ducklings! Can you image keeping that many young-uns in line? I certainly can’t. I’ve missed all of you for a few days but before getting to the easel I just had to share pictures of our little lake family. You can click on the picture for an enlargement to see them closer.

I’ve been working on a special surprise commission that I couldn’t put on my blog. My client didn’t want his wife to see her painting and she reads my blog regularly. But I’m back now, the sketch for my next piece is below.

The painting is based on a drawing I did while we were in Barcelona, Spain. Cindy and I added the wall in the foreground for a great place to put a pot and grow a Bougainvillea over.

She and Ron love the ocean so we moved the scene to the coast. Isn’t being an artist fun? We can make the world anyway we like on our canvas. Thank you for visiting and please come watch tomorrow. Hugs, Mikki Senkarik

It’s Gone!

June 7, 2010

Today was a milestone. We packed the big painting, a major undertaking. Kevin was a big help and his daughter, Chloe fetched tools, carried screws and was in charge of holding doors. Jack supervised, he’s the head packman in this operation. FedEx Freight picked up the crate this afternoon. What a good feeling to have this done. However I must admit, I feel like we’re sending a child off to school. I don’t usually get emotionally attached to my pieces but I’m going to miss that big painting! Anyway, Breathtaking Retreat is on its way to Vail, Colorado for my one artist show the weekend of July 4th. If you are in the area we would love for you to stop in and say HI! If you would like more information just ask. Hugs, Mikki Senkarik
